Zoustar Headlines 2013 JJ Atkins First Acceptances

May 29th, 2013

First acceptances have been released for the Group 1 JJ Atkins, which is set to run at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday June 8, 2013.

17 horses have accepted for the 2013 JJ Atkins, which was originally known as The TJ Smith, including Zoustar.

The two-year-old colt won the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes last start by 1.3 lengths and will be looking to mirror that performance in the 2013 JJ Atkins.

Zoustar has won all three of his career race starts and has earned more than $237,000 in prize money so far.

This will be Zoustar’s first attempt at Group 1 racing and the sprinter will be looking to keep his unbeaten record intact.

She’s Bella is also included in the 2013 JJ Atkins first acceptances.

The Sebring filly is yet to win any of her three race starts and has earned more than $12,000 in prize money during her short career.

She’s Bella places second in a Canterbury handicap last start and trainer Gai Waterhouse is hopeful the filly will step up for the 2013 JJ Atkins.

Meanwhile Vilanova will be out to go one better in the 2013 JJ Atkins after placing second in the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes behind Zoustar last start.

The Commands colt also placed second in the Group 2 Champagne Classic behind Vo Heart earlier this preparation.

Hooked, The Voice and Octane Flyer are also amongst the 2013 JJ Atkins first acceptances.
